Backpack Food Drive

FCA Jr.'s Annual Backpack Food Drive is from Monday, September 23 - Friday, October 4. Hunger is no stranger in Bay County, especially to children. Our FCA Jr. club has decided to contribute to a local backpack program that helps feed children over the weekends when food from school is unavailable. We would like to challenge everyone to participate. Attached is a list of much needed items that are sent home with these children so they’re able to get the nutrition they need over the weekend. The program provides the backpacks to be filled, but is in dire need of donations to fill them. Please talk with your child about the importance of giving and look over the list. If you are able, any and all food donations would be greatly appreciated by the program. Please have items in by Friday, October 4. The best way for our children to learn is to do. We can’t wait to see what our North Bay Haven Elementary is capable of! The class that collects the most will get a pizza party and a special treat!! See attached flyer for a list of much needed food items!

Busy Bee School

Instead of having a Busy Bee club this year, Mr. Therrien will be offering a monthly class that will be open to all 3rd - 5th grade students and parents. Each class will focus on different things that beekeepers in our area are doing to help their bees that month. Spaces are limited in each class and parents must sign there kids up through BookWhen. It can be found here.

Volunteer Information-Important

Before we are able to allow people to volunteer, we need to have a volunteer form completed, along with a copy of a drivers license. Please make sure that anyone volunteering, to include family members or friends, completes this two weeks before the planned activity. You can obtain a volunteer form from the front office.

VOLUNTEER HOURS

The clothes closet in the elementary hallway needs constant straightening.  Clothes need to sorted, folded or hung up. You can go any time between 7:30 and 3:15 pm. Check in at front desk  Make sure to log your time on the NBH website. Thank you for your support!

MEN-tor Program

NBH MEN-tors program is designed for a dad, or father figure, to be able to come to the school and volunteer for the day. Dads will be given a schedule that will allow them to spend time in their child’s classroom and special areas, along with helping in the lunch room and monitoring hallways. MEN-tors will also be given a free t-shirt and their picture taken with their child to be put on the recognition board. This is a great opportunity to get 8 volunteer hours completed.

Aftercare Parents

Please remind your students that electronics to include headphones, ipads, phones, and hand held games will not be allowed in aftercare.  This rule is in the registration packet that each parent has signed.  These items have become in the past a distraction, and causes many disruptions and security issues in our program.

NBH Busy Bee Club Honey For Sale

The North Bay Haven Busy Bee Club has honey for sale in the front office at the Elementary Building. The honey is local from our school campus and nearby off-campus site.  Please come get them while supplies last. We are selling 1lb. bottles for $10.

Approved Outer Wear

Remember students are not allowed to wear non-approved outerwear. As hot as it has been lately I can’t believe we’re talking about jackets, but classrooms are sometimes cool and students want a jacket or sweater. These items must be school approved. Students can also wear long-sleeved shirts under their polos, but right now that’s not a great option because they need to be able to take the long sleeves off when going to PE or recess.  We have a few jackets for sale in the clothes closet. Come in and check them out. Cool weather is on the horizon though, so go ahead and place your order at Zoghby’s or Tommy Hilfiger. Reach out to Mrs. Chapman or your child’s teacher if getting a jacket for your child will be a financial hardship for you. We understand that many of you are still working on recovery from Michael.

Communication at NBHCA
Good communication is very important to us.  We use four main sources to communicate news. First, and most important is our website at bayhaven.org. It is here you will find teacher websites, email addresses, and the school calendar that is updated daily and includes all events.  The other forms of communication are weekly e-blasts, the North Bay Haven Charter Academy Facebook page, and Remind (messaging app).

Be sure to check the school Calendar frequently! Changes to scheduled activities are made frequently.

Box Tops News

Our Fall 2019 submission deadline is approaching! Please clip those Box Tops and send them in an envelope or a bag to your teacher or the front office by October 23rd! Please put your teacher’s name on the bag/envelope! The class with the highest number of Box Tops clips gets FREE donuts in November!
