Car Rider/ Pick up Reminder
Parents just a reminder that during end of the day student pick up we ask that you do not show up early.
We continue having problems with middle school parents showing up before 3:15. Starting this week, if a middle school parent is in line before 3:15, you will be asked to move to the parking lot or move through, as you are blocking traffic and holding up the process. Again, middle school parents please do not show up until after 3:15. We also ask that you have a conversation with your 3rd-12th grade child to get to the student pick up area immediately after the end of the day bell and pay attention. If any car is waiting more than 2 minutes we will ask you to move to the parking lot or go through. Again this is delay is causing congestion into 390 and can't happen. So again I ask that you have a conversation with your child about being ready to go. Thank you for your help with this.
From our SRDs
Parents, every Tuesday your School Resource Deputies send out a quick note
on safety. I think we can all agree that our number one priority is the safety of our students. With that, I hope you all take the time to read and apply the information we share with you each week.
We both know the frustrations with traffic and want to let you know we are working diligently to help ease the stress.
This weeks focus is going to be on cellphone use. I’m sure all of you are aware of the recent change in Florida legislation regarding cell phone use while driving (F.S.S 316.305). I know in the line we get tempted to pick up our phone to help pass the time, but please refrain from doing this. We have all been stuck behind someone waiting on them to realize they could pull forward. Its also important to remember that you have students looking to you whether they are in the car with you or next to you in traffic. As the adults let's strive to set the example.
One last note, elementary parents please have your pick-up tag visible at all times.
Safety First! Little things make BIG differences.

Spirit Shirt Sales
Spirit Shirts will be sold during our open house dates and at the next general PTSP meeting on Sept. 17th.
Afternoon Pickup Procedures
Make sure you have your car tag with you when you pick up your child in the afternoon. If you are driving the tag should be on your rear view mirror or on the dashboard so the teachers can see it. If you are walking up, please bring it with you.
Also, cars must be parked in a parking lot. Do not park along the edges of the road or on any grass.
If your child hasn’t ridden the bus by AUGUST 30th. He/she will be removed from the rosters and will no longer be allowed to ride. You will need to do a new transportation application if you would like your child to ride again. Applicants on the campus wait list will be moved in to vacant slots.
NBH MEN-tors program is designed for a dad, or father figure, to be able to come to the school and volunteer for the day. Dads will be given a schedule that will allow them to spend time in their child’s classroom and special areas, along with helping in the lunch room and monitoring hallways. MEN-tors will also be given a free t-shirt and their picture taken with their child to be put on the recognition board. This is a great opportunity to get 8 volunteer hours completed.

Please remind your students that electronics to include headphones, ipads, phones, and hand held games will not be allowed in aftercare. This rule is in the registration packet that each parent has signed. These items have become in the past a distraction, and causes many disruptions and security issues in our program.

Communication at NBHCA
Good communication is very important to us. We use four main sources to communicate news. First, and most important is our website at bayhaven.org. It is here you will find teacher websites, email addresses, and the school calendar that is updated daily and includes all events. The other forms of communication are weekly e-blasts, the North Bay Haven Charter Academy Facebook page, and Remind (messaging app).
Middle and High School Families, be on the lookout for the PTSP membership envelope to come home with your student this week. Elementary Families you should have received one already.
PTSP has had a great start to the new school year, especially with the first Family Night's huge success. Let's work together to keep it going.

BOX TOPS News
Box Tops have gone digital, but we will still continue to collect the Box Tops clips until they all run out, so please clip, collect and send them in to your teacher or the front office!
A couple ways to send them in: put them in a bag/envelope with your Teacher’s Name on it and send it in, or use a collection sheet to glue them down and return the sheet (we will be sending Box Tops collection sheets home with your children to make it fun for them to be involved in the collection process). Thank you for helping us earn free money for our school!
Be sure to check the school Calendar frequently! Changes to scheduled activities are made frequently.
