Wow, it's hard to believe how fast summer flew by. We have been working hard at school to get things ready for another great school year! Classes are full, the halls are shining, and the classrooms and teachers are ready for you!!! Although we still have some hurricane damage related issues at the school, know we have a plan to get this place built back better than ever. I hope you will see some of the progress we have made and I hope that by the end of fall a lot of the things that were damaged or destroyed will be fixed and looking better than ever. On a personal note, I want to thank you for coming back to NBH. I hope everything is coming together at your house and that we can put the crazy 2018 behind us! And make sure if it's not, and we can help anyway, email me so I can help!
I wanted to bring your attention to a couple of things that are coming up this week and next.
1- Orientation for elementary and HS is Tuesday, August 6th. NBHE will be at 5:00 and HS at 6:00- in the gym. This is for all new students, all freshman, and all new students that did not attend an orientation last year. This will be a great opportunity for you to hear about our school and to visit your classrooms. Schedules will not be passed out, rather we are asking you to go into FOCUS and print your child's schedule. Elementary families will receive a call from your child's teacher on Wednesday, Aug. 7th. You can drop of supplies on Friday, August 9th from 1-3pm. Also, our MS football team will be grilling as a fundraiser so please bring the family out and enjoy some barbeque. We will also be discussing HS Chromebooks and Canvas as the orientation.
2- MS orientation for all new students and all 6th graders and 7th/8th new students will be Thursday, August 8th at 5:00 PM in the gym. At 6:00 we will be meeting with all 8th graders to talk about the mandatory Chromebooks and how we use Canvas. Again this will be in the gym. We ask that you print your schedules in FOCUS and walk your child's scheudle Thursday so the first day is not so hard. Thank you. We will again be grilling as a fundrasiesr from 5:30-6:30 so come hungry:)
And of course, our first day of school is next Monday, August 12th.

If your child had fun colored hair this summer, such as blue, purples, and pinks, etc., please remember that it must be back to the standards found in the student handbook found on our website, bayhaven.org.
The board has decided to allow any brand bottoms for next school year. This means your student may wear navy blue or khaki pants, shorts or skirts from any vendor providing that they still meet school standards. They cannot be cargo shorts/pants, styles with elastic at the ankle, too short, etc. The style should look like the approved school uniform bottoms but may be purchased from any vendor. Please call us if you have any questions.
Volunteer opportunities for Elementary, Middle School and High School parents
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO VOLUNTEERED LAST WEEK! We got a lot done but there is plenty yet to do! Please keep your eyes open for more volunteer opportunities.
First Day of School for 1st-5th Grade is August 12!
Parents, please plan to drop your student off in the car drop-off line. We do not have enough parking for everyone to park and walk their child/ren to class. If you must park and walk your child in, please park in the lot by the gym or across Mill Bayou in the dirt. And then you must be out of those lots by 7:35 am. Please do not park on any of the grass anywhere on campus.

Communication at NBHCA
Good communication is very important to us. We use four main sources to communicate news. First, and most important is our website at bayhaven.org. It is here you will find teacher websites, email addresses, and the school calendar that is updated daily and includes all events. The other forms of communication are weekly e-blasts, the North Bay Haven Charter Academy Facebook page, and Remind (messaging app).
Be sure to check the school Calendar frequently! Changes to scheduled activities are made frequently.
